چکیده

In this paper, a study on the end-to-end performance of multi-hop non-regenerative relaying networks over independent generalized-gamma (GG) fading channels is presented. Using an upper bound for the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), novel closed-form expressions for the probability density function, the moments, and the moments-generating function of the end-to-end SNR are presented. Based on these derived formulas, lower bounds for the outage and the average bit error probability (ABEP) are derived in closed form. Special attention is given to the lowand high-SNR regions having practical interest as well as to the Nakagami fading scenario. Moreover, the performance of the considered system when employing adaptive square-quadrature amplitude modulation is further analyzed in terms of the average spectral efficiency, the bit error outage, and the ABEP. Computer simulation results verify the tightness and the accuracy of the proposed bounds. Copyright c © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Performance Analysis of Decode and Forward Cooperative Relaying over the Generalized-K Channel

In this paper, we analyze the performance of cooperative diversity using adaptive Decode and Forward (DF) relaying over independent but non-necessarily identical flat composite fading channels which include multipath fading and shadowing simultaneously. We have considered the transmission of M-QAM modulated signals over Generalized-K channel model which is very versatile and accurately approxim...

Ergodic Capacity of Dual-hop Semi-blind AF Relaying over Composite Fading Channels using Mixture Gamma Distribution

Since the performance metrics of digital communication systems over composite multipath/ lognormal fading channels is intractable, a mixture gamma (MG) fading model is used to approximate Nakagami-lognormal (NL) fading model. By using MG fading model, the ergodic capacity of dualhop semi-blind amplify-and-forward relaying systems is investigated over independent non-identical composite NL fadin...

Diversity Techniques in Free-Space Optical Communications

Free-space optical (FSO) communication offers significant technical and operational advantages such as higher bandwidth capacity, robustness to electromagnetic interference, a high degree of spatial confinement (bringing virtually unlimited reuse and inherent security), low power requirements, and unregulated spectrum. FSO communication can be deployed as an efficient solution for a wide range ...

The effects of atmospheric turbulence and misalignment fading on performance of serial relaying M -ary PPM FSO systems with partially coherent Gaussian beam

In this paper, we present a novel method to analyze the effects of atmospheric turbulence and misalignment fading (or pointing error) on performance of serial relaying M -ary pulse-position modulation (PPM) free-space optical (FSO) systems. Our study is more comprehensive than previous ones since we take into account the effect of beam size variation due to turbulence by using the partially coh...

On the error rate analysis of dual-hop relaying over composite fading channels using mixture gamma distribution

In this paper, we present the end-to-end performance of a dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying system over independent nonidentical (non-i.i.d) composite Nakagami-lognormal (NL) fading channels by using mixture gamma (MG) distribution. Novel closedform expressions for the probability density function (PDF) and the moment-generation function (MGF) of the end-to-end signal-tonoise ratio (SN...
